Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She has written fifteen books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news website has a TV personality author, author and philanthropist. Her birthplace was in Greece then moved to England at age 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in Economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it before the age of 21. A conservative syndicated blogger, after graduating she went on to become an influential voice for the Huffington Post. In part, her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna was famous in 2003 when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections in order to replace Governor Davis. Alongside this, she directed a Detroit project to promote the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes listed her the most powerful woman in media in the year 2009. She ranked in the 12th spot on Forbes' listing. The Guardian also included her to the list of 100 most influential media outlets in the year 2009. AOL Inc. named her president of their media group in 2011, after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post was joined by the other AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. Their parents are Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. Though she was close to her father it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her life. At an early age, she displayed leadership qualities which are still widely admired. At the age of 16, she moved to Britain for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. As a student she was a member of the Cambridge Union's colleges debating societies, and eventually was its first foreign and female president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. She was a journalist, a TV host as well as a columnist following her graduation. Additionally, she starred with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editing assistance.
